If You Give a Cat a Cupcake - November 1st!

We had the most extraordinary time at the November 1st performances of “If You Give a Cat a Cupcake”. As always, we love to collect audience thoughts after the show and we thought we’d share those thoughts. We use the information in the surveys to improve each event. Here’s what we learned from our first show of the Over the Moon Family Theater Season.

Kudos & Thoughts
Overall, teachers, students, grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and of course, kiddos had a great time. The interaction with the actors and audience was loved with the exception of a few who felt like it may have detracted from a more traditional live theater experience.

What’s With the Sound?
The sound experience at each of the shows was thought to be too loud by many folks, so we will work with the Pikes Peak Center staff to better monitor each section of the Great Hall so the show is heard comfortably by all.

Always a School Night?!
For the evening performance, we had several comments about time and date of the event. We thought we’d take this opportunity to clarify why we book shows the way we do. We begin booking shows a year in advance of each season. We book shows during the week during days and evenings when the Pikes Peak Center is available and when the touring companies can work us in to the touring route. Also, and this is really important, it is our intention to get as many kids to experience the magic of live theater as possible, so we offer one or two performances during the day to offer schools the chance at a great literacy-based field trip. We are able to share this fun with about 3,500 kids during the day; many of those students may not be able to share in this experience otherwise. We offer a 7:00pm show for families because we want families to be able to enjoy a meal together (maybe at a great downtown eatery) and then head down to the Pikes Peak Center for a fun evening.

We Love to Share!
